This will enable customers to establish a network connection to the AWS Direct Connect partner network in AWS infrastructure regions around the world. The benefits of AWS Direct Connect are dedicated connectivity to [AWS Regions](https://aws.amazon.com/directconnect/features/), a more consistent network experience, and reduced network costs. AWS Direct Connect is a dedicated network connection that brings robust and secure connectivity between an on-premises data centre or colocation environment and the cloud. Enabling organisations to conduct data transfer through a private connection and private virtual interfaces, AWS Direct Connect gateway is ideal for organisations with latency- or compliance-sensitive workloads. The [AWS Direct Connect](https://www.teraco.co.za/platform-teraco/africa-cloud-exchange/amazon-web-services/) connection can be used to access all AWS services in any AWS region globally, and create a high-performance, hybrid infrastructure providing improved security and efficiency for sensitive workloads. ##### Africa Cloud Exchange AWS Direct Connect locations are available at Teraco through physical cross-connections in the Johannesburg and Cape Town data centres and via [Africa Cloud Exchange](https://www.teraco.co.za/platform-teraco/africa-cloud-exchange/). Lex van Wyk, CEO at Teraco, says direct connection to AWS is becoming a critical component as digital transformation drives renewed energy into virtualised, on-demand provider-based services. “The AWS Direct Connect gateway is an exciting addition to Teraco. Clients looking to build hybrid solutions with their dedicated IT infrastructures now have choice. Teraco offers immediate activation of secure connections from our clients to AWS. The value of these cloud computing options will also be seen in the different types of connections clients require.” He says that within Teraco, clients can peer via NAPAfrica or connect via Africa Cloud Exchange. With a dedicated connection to the AWS cloud becoming an increasingly important part of the IT landscape, organisations need to manage both on-premise and cloud applications in-house and outsourced. Choosing the right deployment methods for specific workloads is essentially creating new network architecture. Van Wyk says Teraco is excited to offer clients another access route to multiple clouds with private connect solutions. The Africa Cloud Exchange platform now offers another world-class cloud computing platform, offering predictable, high performance, SLA based connections that make Teraco’s facilities the ideal location to build cloud and on-premises hybrid architecture solutions. “We have successfully built Africa’s largest internet ecosystem, and we are excited to offer clients access to all levels within this now complete ecosystem, including content and cloud providers. Our data centres act as a true cloud hub, enabling a dedicated connection between cloud and internet service providers, their clients and channel partners, making it attractive to those building and managing reliable and high-performance hybrid IT solutions. Thanks to our diverse and populated carrier community, our clients are provided with several choices,” he says. ### Related Reading ### Recent - [NAPAfrica and ZANOG enhance community-driven interconnection in Cape Town’s growing digital ecosystem](https://www.teraco.co.za/news/napafrica-and-zanog-enhance-community-driven-interconnection-in-cape-town-growing-digital-ecosystem/) - [Teraco expands executive management team](https://www.teraco.co.za/news/teraco-expands-executive-management-team/) - [Teraco announces CT1 data centre expansion in Rondebosch, Cape Town](https://www.teraco.co.za/news/teraco-announces-ct1-data-centre-expansion-in-rondebosch-cape-town/) - [NAPAfrica and Teraco ACX growing Africa’s digital community as NAPAfrica hits 6Tbps](https://www.teraco.co.za/news/napafrica-and-teraco-acx-growing-africas-digital-community-as-napafrica-hits-6tbps/) - [Teraco completes CT2 data centre expansion, increasing Cape Town’s hyperscale capacity to 50MW](https://www.teraco.co.za/news/teraco-completes-ct2-data-centre-expansion/) ### Subscribe to our Newsletter Sign up for our newsletter and get the latest news and updates from Teraco.
